i know of a thermodynamics engineer who to this day refuses to entirely believe that planes can actually fly. i–a self-proclaimed math geek (would anyone but a math geek proclaim self to be so?)–can empathize with this sense of wonder when i see formulas like this:

e^i*pi = -1

pi = 4Σ[(-1^n) / (2n+1)]

so simple it just boggles the mind. just reinforces (a) the beauty and the simplicity of the underlying structure of the universe; and (b) there is no randomness–just chaos we cannot see through.
