Hakan taught me how to make his ultra-simple and super-duper nutritious “breakfast soup” yesterday. here’s the recipe:

2, 2.5 cups of water
1 tblspn of olive oil
seasalt to taste
1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (that’s coughing hot—half of that is already quite spicy, and definitely DO NOT confuse teaspoon with tablespoon)
1 potato cut up fairly fine
1 carrot cut up somewhat fine
2 tblspns of red lentils, chopped if possible
(a bunch of fresh dill) XOR ((a bunch of fresh mint) OR (a teabag of mint tea))

bring water and olive oil and salt and cayenne to boil, drop everything else in, bring back to boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10-20 minutes depending on the optimum reduction level aka soup thickness vs. mushiness of potatoes and lentils. makes one decent-sized serving of soup with all the major nutrients a body needs.

Hakan has it for breakfast very often. i’d prefer it for any other time of day—it’d take a few flips of a few switches for me to make that into a breakfast dish.
